The fourth match of the five-match T20I series between India and West Indies is scheduled at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. India hold a 2-1 lead in the series following their victory in Indore, and a win at this venue would seal the series with one game remaining.
Ahead of the fixture, considerable attention has focused on Abhishek Sharma, who represents Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and regards Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium as his home ground. His record at the venue across T20 cricket is among the most impressive of any batter currently active in the format.
What is Abhishek Sharma’s T20 record at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium?
Abhishek Sharma has accumulated 975 runs across 31 T20 matches at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, striking at 211.03. He has registered 2 centuries and 7 half-centuries at the ground, a combination that reflects both his consistency and his capacity to score at an exceptional rate. Despite this record, he has featured for India only once at the venue, scoring just four runs against South Africa in 2024.
His highest score at the venue is 141 off 55 balls against Punjab Kings on April 12, 2025. That innings contained 14 fours and 10 sixes and was compiled at a strike rate of 256.36, making it one of the most destructive knocks seen at the ground in recent seasons.
Among his other notable contributions at the stadium, Abhishek scored 63 off 23 balls against Mumbai Indians on March 27, 2024, hitting 3 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 273.91. On May 8, 2024, he made an unbeaten 75 off 28 balls against Lucknow Super Giants, reaching that score with 8 fours and 6 sixes at a strike rate of 267.85.
What is the series context heading into the fourth T20I in Hyderabad?
India lead the five-match T20I series 2-1 after their victory in Indore. The Hyderabad fixture on October 14, 2026 presents the hosts with an opportunity to secure the series before the final match is played. Abhishek has scored just 110 runs in the three games in the series, striking at 211.53.
However, he also carries strong recent form into this fixture. In the third T20I against West Indies at Indore on October 12, 2026, he scored 69 off 30 balls and became the fastest player to reach 2,000 T20I runs in terms of balls faced, underlining the form he brings to his home ground.
West Indies must win at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium to keep the contest alive and force a decider. The series situation gives the fourth T20I added significance beyond the individual records that Abhishek brings to his familiar home conditions.
