The bromance between AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli is loved by all cricket fans across the world. The duo complemented each other well on the field, sharing some of the best moments the IPL has ever seen. AB de Villiers recently recalled a hilarious incident he once had with Virat Kohli over the popular chant — “Ee Sala Cup Namde.”

For fans of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the chant is “Ee Sala Cup Namde (This time, the cup is ours). But the tagline hasn’t just been an innovative marketing ploy for IPL — something that had nothing to do with cricket — it also helped build a buzz among fans over the years.

In a conversation with us, AB de Villiers once opened up about Virat Kohli’s funniest response when he heard about the chant. Having an unquenchable thirst for runs, Virat had always taken the slogan in a funny way but certainly it motivated him. “I remember I first on heard it. Virat just looked at me and said, ‘I love the energy, but let’s do it first!’ ” laughed AB de Villiers.

The duo has shared some great moments in the IPL breaking records and entertaining millions. Regarding some of his closest teammates, Virat Kohli has been RCB’s heartbeat, AB de Villiers one of its most explosive batters. It has always been a talking point among cricket lovers that the duo share a good friendship outside the field.

The IPL season is upon us and fans across the globe are again shouting “Ee Sala Cup Namde”, perhaps this time, RCB will win the trophy. If this is their year or not we don’t know, but one thing is now we can see raging fans will always cherish the friendship and bond of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli.
