Real will pay tribute to Ancelotti on Saturday during the team’s final match of the league season against Real Sociedad in the Spanish league at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
At the end of his second team with Real, Ancelotti has won both the Champions League and the Spanish league last season. He had also coached the club from 2013-2015 and in total, he was in charge of Madrid in more than 350 matches and helped it win three Champions Leagues, three Club World Cups, two Spanish leagues, two Copa del Reys, three UEFA Super Cups and two Spanish Super Cups.
This season, however, Real didn’t live up to its reputation, losing the La Liga to Barcelona and were also knocked out from the Champions League after losing the quarterfinals to Arsenal. Real, who began the season with a UEFA Super Cup title also lost all 4 El Clasico encounters against rivals Barcelona.
Former Real player Xabi Alonso, who left Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season after helping them to an undefeated league title last season, is expected to succeed Ancelotti at Real, according to reports.
