Samuel Atta Kumi was the hero for Gold Stars as his 96th-minute penalty sealed a dramatic 1-0 victory over Medeama SC at the Duns Park.

Despite missing an earlier spot kick and striking the crossbar, the Miners’ relentless pressure paid off in stoppage time, allowing them to maintain their lead at the top of the table with 53 points.

Medeama, who put up a resilient fight, remain in 7th with 41 points.

Asante Kotoko’s title hopes took a further hit following a 2-0 defeat at Nations FC. First-half goals from Nafiu Sulemana and Emmanuel Annor secured all three points for the hosts, who remain just two points off the top in second place. Kotoko drop to fourth, six points adrift of the leaders.

Hearts of Oak continued their inconsistent run with a goalless home draw against relegation-threatened Karela United. The Phobians were unable to capitalize on home advantage and now sit 6th with 42 points, while Karela hover just above the drop zone with 29.

In Kpando, Heart of Lions delivered a dominant performance, brushing aside Accra Lions 3-1. Yaw Danso opened the scoring early before Nana Kwame Oppong struck twice in the second half. David Olubi Akintunde netted a late consolation for the visitors, who have now slipped into the relegation zone. The victory keeps Heart of Lions third, level on points with Kotoko and six behind Gold Stars.

Elsewhere, Young Apostles were held 1-1 at home by FC Samartex 1996. Emmanuel Fosu Kyei gave the Apostles the lead, but in-form forward Emmanuel Mamah equalized for the defending champions. Samartex climb to 5th, also on 42 points.

Dreams FC and Vision FC played out a 1-1 draw at the Tuba Astro Turf. Jonathan Nemorden’s opener for the hosts was canceled out by Emmanuel Akansase. The result leaves Dreams 11th, with Vision sitting two spots above the relegation zone.

In the Bono derby, Berekum Chelsea edged Bechem United 2-1 away to hand the hosts a second consecutive home defeat. Vincent Klu Adjei opened the scoring for Chelsea, with Dalvin Yeboah equalizing before Jonathan Attuquaye’s 38th-minute strike secured the win. Bechem drop to 8th, with Chelsea a place behind in 9th.

Finally, Basake Holy Stars earned a vital 1-0 win over struggling Legon Cities thanks to Issah Yakubu’s second-half strike. The Premier League newcomers move to 12th, while Legon Cities remain mired in the relegation battle.
