Luis de la Fuente has told Lamine Yamal to rest easy after the Barcelona winger finished third in the 2026 Ballon d’Or race. The Spain head coach also backed the 19-year-old to win football’s biggest individual prize many times in the future.
De la Fuente reacted after Monday night’s ceremony at the London Palladium, where Harry Kane clinched the Ballon d’Or ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Yamal. Kane became the first English winner since Michael Owen in 2001, while De la Fuente was named Men’s Coach of the Year after guiding La Roja to the 2026 World Cup.
