Real Madrid striker Carlos Espi has revealed the message Jose Mourinho gave him before sending him on as a substitute in the 4-3 comeback win over Roma. The 21-year-old scored in the 83rd minute – just four minutes after entering the pitch – before goals from Endrick and Antonio Rudiger sealed a fairytale win for Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Espi, who joined Real Madrid this summer, has made a habit out of scoring crucial goals for the club. The Spaniard scored stoppage time winners against Espanyol and Elche in La Liga earlier this season. Mourinho continues to rely on him as an impact player off the bench, with the striker racking up just 38 minutes across all competitions.
