A maiden WODI century from Sobhana Mostary powered Bangladesh to a record-breaking batting display against Australia in the second WODI at Allan Border Field in Brisbane on Sunday. The knock rewrote several landmarks in women’s cricket between the two sides and in Bangladesh’s own ODI history.

Mostary walked in with her side in serious difficulty at eight for three and proceeded to construct an innings of 118 off 134 deliveries, laced with 18 boundaries. She brought up three figures in the 45th over, nudging a single off Annabel Sutherland, and was eventually dismissed in the 48th over as she sought to push the run rate.

Captain Nigar Sultana held firm at the other end throughout the recovery, and the two batters put on 195 runs for the fourth wicket. That stand is the highest partnership for any wicket recorded in women’s WODIs between these two nations. It also surpassed Bangladesh’s own previous best partnership in women’s ODIs, which was the 152-run effort shared by Sharmin Akhter and Sultana against Thailand earlier in 2026.

Sultana closed the innings unbeaten on 74 off 114 deliveries, contributing seven fours to the cause. Bangladesh reached 220 for six at the close of their innings, a total that represents their highest score against Australia in women’s ODIs. Megan Schutt was the pick of the Australian bowlers, returning figures of four wickets for 36 runs.

What records did Mostary and Bangladesh set in this match?

The afternoon at Allan Border Field produced a cluster of firsts for Bangladesh women’s cricket. Mostary’s 118 displaced Fargana Haque’s 107 as the highest individual score in the country’s women’s ODI history. She became the fourth WODI centurion for Bangladesh. Her century against Australia was also a format first, as no Bangladesh batter had previously reached three figures against the Australians in WODIs.

The 195-run fourth-wicket stand between Mostary and Sultana broke two records simultaneously. It became the highest partnership for any wicket in women’s WODIs involving Australia, and it also eclipsed Bangladesh’s own national record for any wicket in women’s ODIs, which had stood at 152 runs between Sharmin Akhter and Sultana. Bangladesh’s team total of 220 for six added a third record to the day’s tally, representing the highest score the side has posted against Australia in women’s ODIs.

How did the Bangladesh innings develop at Allan Border Field?

The early collapse to eight for three placed enormous pressure on the middle order, but Mostary’s response was measured and authoritative. She rebuilt the innings steadily before shifting through the gears in the closing overs, reaching her hundred in the 45th over before departing in the 48th for 118.

Sultana’s unbeaten 74 off 114 deliveries was the ideal complement to Mostary’s aggression. Her seven fours and composed running between the wickets helped the pair add 195 runs and lift Bangladesh from a precarious position to a total that set multiple records.

Schutt’s four wickets for 36 runs made her the standout performer with the ball for Australia, though the hosts were unable to prevent Bangladesh from posting their highest total against them in the women’s ODI format.
