President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has highlighted the successful organisation of the country’s domestic football competitions, citing improved matchday protocols, enhanced broadcast coverage and the collective commitment of stakeholders as key drivers of progress.
Speaking at the 32nd Ordinary Session of Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Thursday August 20, 2026, President Simeon-Okraku said the GFA had successfully organised its domestic football calendar for the seventh consecutive season without major disruptions.
“For the seventh consecutive season, the Football Association has successfully organised all our domestic football competitions — both regular-season and off-season — without any major disruptions,” he said.
The President attributed the achievement to the resilience of Ghana’s football ecosystem and the commitment of clubs, match officials, administrators, security agencies, sponsors, partners and other stakeholders.
He said said the GFA had also strengthened matchday protocols to make domestic football safer and better organised while improving the overall experience for everyone involved.
“We have strengthened our matchday protocols to improve safety, organisation, and the overall experience for players, officials, supporters, and our commercial partners,” he said.
The measures form part of the GFA’s wider efforts to raise professional standards across domestic competitions and create a more attractive environment for supporters and commercial partners.
Broadcast bringing Ghana football closer
The GFA President also pointed to the growing role of television broadcasting in expanding the reach and commercial appeal of domestic football.
He said the successful coordination of live television broadcasts had significantly increased the visibility of Ghana’s domestic competitions, allowing supporters both within Ghana and around the world to follow the game more closely.
“Our successful coordination of live television broadcasts has significantly increased the visibility and appeal of our domestic competitions, bringing Ghana football closer to fans across the country and beyond,” he added.
The combination of improved matchday management and increased broadcast exposure, he said, is helping to strengthen the profile of Ghana football while creating greater opportunities for clubs, players, sponsors and other stakeholders.
