The Referees Department has announced the dates and venues for the 2026 Annual National Written and Fitness Tests for referees across the country.
The exercise, which forms a key part of the referees’ assessment and preparation for the upcoming football season, will be conducted in two sectors to ensure the smooth participation of match officials nationwide.
Referees from the Northern Sector will undertake their written and fitness tests at the Techiman Youth Resource Centre from July 31 to August 2, 2026. The exercise is expected to attract referees and assistant referees from the various northern regions as they seek to maintain their eligibility for national assignments.
The Southern Sector exercise will subsequently take place at the Koforidua Sports Stadium from August 7 to 9, 2026, bringing together referees and assistant referees from the southern part of the country.
The annual assessment is a mandatory requirement for referees and assistant referees, providing an opportunity for the Referees Department to evaluate officials’ knowledge of the Laws of the Game as well as their physical fitness levels ahead of the new season.
The written examination will test the officials’ understanding and application of football laws, while the fitness test will assess their physical readiness to officiate matches at the various levels of Ghana football.
The exercise remains an important component of the Ghana Football Association’s efforts to improve officiating standards and ensure that referees are adequately prepared to meet the demands of modern football.
