Indian teenage sensation Rounak Chouhan pulled off a big upset by defeating world No. 6 Chou Tien Chen in the pre-quarterfinals of the US Open Super 300 tournament on Thursday.

The 18-year-old claimed a straight-game 21-17, 26-24 win over the top-seeded seasoned campaigner Chou from Chinese Taipei to reach his maiden Super300 Quarterfinals.

The young Indian showed great composure to come from behind in both games and claimed his biggest career win, setting up a quarterfinal clash with Misha Zilberman of Israel on Friday.

Meanwhile, three Indian women’s singles players, Tanvi Sharma and Rakshitha Ramraj, and Devika Sihag, also moved to the last 8 with a straight-game win in their respective matches.

On the other hand, the Indian women’s doubles pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand faced a second-round exit, losing 19-21, 8-21 to Japan’s Sumire Nakade and Miyu Takahashi.
