Coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle will officially begin a nationwide talent identification exercise on Thursday, June 18, 2026, with the first stop scheduled for the Malik Jabir Sports Stadium in Wa, Upper West Region.

The exercise, which starts at 9:00 a.m., forms part of preparations for the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship and is aimed at identifying outstanding young footballers who can strengthen Ghana’s next U-17 national team.

Coach Mingle will lead a technical team tasked with scouting promising players from clubs, colts teams and football academies across the region. The exercise is expected to attract some of the finest young talents from the Upper West Region, providing them with an opportunity to impress the national team selectors.

The scouting programme is part of the Association’s broader strategy to build a strong and competitive Black Starlets squad capable of excelling at the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship and securing qualification to the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The Association has emphasized that the new scouting arrangement is designed to provide national team coaches with adequate time to identify talent and prepare their teams for future competitions. Under this structure, Kasim Mingle and his technical team will oversee preparations for the next Black Starlets cycle beginning with the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.

The Wa exercise marks the beginning of a nationwide scouting tour that will cover all regions of the country as the technical team seeks to unearth the next generation of players capable of continuing Ghana’s rich tradition in youth football.
