While the players continue to showcase their talents on the field, another group of young talents has been quietly earning praise at the 2026 GFA Elite U15 Girls Championship in Prampram—the Catch Them Young Referees.

The young female referees, selected under the Association’s referee development initiative, have delivered impressive performances during the opening two days of the championship, drawing admiration from coaches, players, officials and spectators alike.

Tasked with officiating matches involving some of the country’s most promising young footballers, the referees have displayed confidence, composure and a sound understanding of the Laws of the Game. Their ability to manage matches effectively has contributed significantly to the smooth running of the competition.

Observers at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence have been particularly impressed by the maturity and professionalism exhibited by the young officials despite their age. Their positioning, communication and decision-making have reflected the impact of the continuous training and mentorship provided through the Catch Them Young Refereeing Programme.

The Catch Them Young Refereeing Policy forms part of the Association’s broader strategy to identify and nurture the next generation of referees, providing them with valuable match experience in a competitive environment while preparing them for higher levels of officiating.

Their performances over the first two days have not only enhanced the quality of the competition but have also highlighted the success of the Catch Them Young Policy in developing talented female match officials.

With more matches still to be played, the referees will be eager to maintain their impressive standards and continue making a positive impact on one of Ghana’s premier youth development competitions.
