The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) play their last game of the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) in Match 68 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Saturday, May 23.

It has been a season to forget for LSG, who currently find themselves at the foot of the standings with eight points to their name from 13 matches. They come into the game on the back of a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of the Rajasthan Royals, where they failed to defend 221.

PBKS’ form, on the other hand, has completely fallen off the charts in recent games. Last year’s finalists have lost six consecutive games, but are still fifth in the standings with 13 points and need a win in Lucknow to stay in the hunt for making it through to the playoffs.

Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, Lucknow: Pitch Report

Over the course of the 2026 IPL season, the Ekana International Stadium has offered the most balanced pitch for both batters and bowlers to excel. It is one of the few grounds that does not see scores of 200 or more regularly, with the barrier being breached just twice all season.

Spinners, meanwhile, are always in the game due to the slow nature of the wicket, making it harder for the batters to score runs freely.

In the last four matches, Mitchell Marsh has gone on to score 307 runs at an average of 76.75. These include two scores in the 90s and a magnificent 111 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana International Stadium. Overall, the Australian has scored 563 runs at a strike-rate of 163.18.

Probable Best Bowler: Harpreet Brar

Harpreet Brar has played just two matches in this season’s IPL. However, thanks to the slowness of the Lucknow pitch, the left-arm spinner could cause a few troubles to the in-form LSG batting unit. The 30-year-old comes into the game on the back of taking two wickets against RCB at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala.

Today’s Match Prediction: Team batting second to win the match
