Australia have left out senior stars Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David from their final T20I assignment ahead of the World Cup during their three-match T20I series in Pakistan, starting later this month. Australia have named a 17-player squad for the upcoming three-match T20 series against Pakistan in Lahore. The roster features several new additions rewarded for their standout performances in the Big Bash League, most notably rising fast bowler Mahli Beardman (Perth Scorchers) and versatile talent Jack Edwards (Sydney Sixers). While both Beardman and Edwards have yet to make their international debuts, they gained experience earlier this summer as part of the Australian white-ball setup during India’s tour. Cummins, Hazlewood and David will now unite with the World Cup squad in Sri Lanka ahead of their league-stage opener against Ireland on February 11. Ten of the 17 players travelling to Pakistan are part of the World Cup squad. All three matches will be played in Lahore. Australia’s medical staff expects Hazlewood (hamstring/Achilles) and David (hamstring) to be ready for the World Cup opener next month. However, the team is taking a more cautious approach with Cummins as he recovers from back stress fractures, aiming to have him available for the tournament’s crucial later stages.
