Premier League: Medeama return to the summit with Kpando grit as Vision FC climb out of drop zone
SHARE

Medeama SC climbed back to the top of the Premier League table after edging Heart of Lions 1-0 in a hard-fought  match at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Saturday.

The decisive moment came in the 20th minute, when Kingsley Braye headed home from close range following a goalmouth scramble, giving the Mauve and Yellow a vital breakthrough in an otherwise tightly contested match.

Medeama largely controlled proceedings in the first half, asserting dominance in midfield and enjoying greater spells of possession. Their composure and tactical discipline eventually paid off, with Braye’s simple but crucial finish proving enough to separate the two sides.

The victory propels Medeama SC to the summit of the league with 30 points, at least temporarily, as second-placed Aduana FC remain on 28 points ahead of their away clash with Young Apostles on Sunday.

After an explosive start to the season, the Kpando-based side have slipped to seventh place, remaining on 23 points from 16 matches, as their recent struggles continue to stall their push up the table.

Vision FC 1-0 Nations FC

Vision FC climbed out of the relegation zone after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nations FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex on Saturday, thanks to a decisive first-half strike from teenager Setsofia Aqetey.

Aqetey announced himself in style, opening his Vision FC goal account with a composed finish deep into first-half stoppage time. The goal proved decisive, sealing a much-needed win for the Tema-based side and sparking celebrations among the home faithful.

The victory brought an end to Vision FC’s seven-match winless run and lifted them to 12th place on the Premier League table with 18 points, moving them out of the relegation zone and to within one point of their opponents.

Despite a spirited performance, Frimpong Manso’s men were unable to break their away hoodoo and remain winless on their travels this season. The result leaves them 10th in the standings, and they will be eager to respond when they host Karela United in their next fixture.

Vision FC, buoyed by this confidence-boosting result, will now turn their attention to a daunting test away to high-flying Aduana Stars, as they look to build momentum and further distance themselves from the danger zone.
