Premier League: Bechem United target first win as Hearts of Oak chase fifth straight away victory on Friday

Bechem United will host Accra Hearts of Oak at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Friday, October 3, 2025, in search of their first win of the season, as they look to turn around a difficult start to the campaign.

The Hunters have endured another slow opening, failing to register a win in their first three Premier League fixtures (D1, L2). They have also struggled in attack, failing to score in two of those matches. This marks their third successive winless start to a top-flight season, having recorded the same sequence in 2023/24 (D1, L2) and eventually finishing 10th in both that and the 2024/25 season.

Despite these concerns, there is optimism for Stephen Desmond Issah Botchway’s men at home. Bechem United are unbeaten in their last four league outings at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park (W2, D2), and notably, they have not conceded a league goal at the venue since a 1-2 defeat to Berekum Chelsea in April 2025 during the Bono derby. This defensive solidity on home soil will give them hope against the in-form Phobians.

Accra Hearts of Oak travel to Bechem as the Premier League’s most in-form side. Currently on a ten-game unbeaten run (W7, D3), the Phobians have kept clean sheets in nine of those fixtures, underlining their defensive resilience. Their latest 1-0 win over Eleven Wonders at the Accra Sports Stadium maintained their unbeaten start to the 2025/26 season.

This marks the first time since the 2019/20 campaign that Hearts have gone three games unbeaten at the start of a season. Head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani will be keen to extend this momentum as the Phobians target their first league title since 2020/21, when Samuel Boadu guided them to a domestic double. Adding further confidence, Hearts have won their last four consecutive league games on the road and will be pushing for a fifth straight away victory on Friday.

Recent meetings between the two sides at Bechem have been closely contested. Since the 2020/21 season, Bechem United have hosted Hearts of Oak five times in the league, with both sides winning twice and one match ending in a draw. This balanced record suggests another competitive encounter is on the horizon.

Bechem United will rely on their strong home form to spark a turnaround in fortunes, while Hearts of Oak will be determined to maintain their unbeaten streak and strengthen their early title credentials. With both sides having shared a fair head-to-head history in Bechem, Friday’s clash promises to be one of the standout fixtures of Matchday 4.
