CAF Safe Stadium Initiative Workshop concludes in Accra, boosting Stadium Safety

The CAF Safe Stadium Initiative workshop that opened on Tuesday, has ended successfully in Accra.  The three-day program aimed at strengthening stadium safety and security in the country and across African football was held at the headquarters of the GFA.

In attendance was Executive Council member Eugene Noel Noble, General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo (Esq.), COP Lydia Donkor, Director General of the Police CID and Chairperson of the GFA Safety and Security Committee.

Others included, Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (Ghalca), John Ansah who doubles as the National Safety and Security Officer, Simon Ehomah, Chairman of the Western Regional Football Association, Kennedy Boakye Ansah, CEO OF Nations FC, Delali Anku-Adiamah, Managing Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, Samuel Kwagyir, Head of Communications, Bibiani Gold Stars, and Stephen Botchway, Senior Administrator, Heart of Lions.

The workshop brought together Safety and Security Officers from all 18 Premier League clubs, members of the GFA Security Committee and 16 Regional Sports Police Officers. Over the three days, participants received intensive training on CAF Safety and Security Regulations, Accreditation and Access Control, Crowd Management Techniques and Pre-, During- and Post-Match Security Protocols.

The workshop was led by Xololi Nokithula Vilakati (Eswatini) and Sylvanus Obi (Nigeria), both recognized CAF security experts.

The CAF Safe Stadium Initiative is part of a continent-wide effort to standardize safety measures and prevent stadium-related tragedies. CAF aims to ensure that every football event from domestic league matches to continental competitions, is hosted in a secure environment.

With the increasing popularity and huge interest in football events, the continental body is also increasing its efforts to create safe and secure events for fans, teams, and various stakeholders of the game.

Certificates were awarded to all course participants.
