President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has urged Premier League referees to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity as the new football season kicks off on Friday, September 12, 2025.

The President delivered this charge during a virtual meeting with match officials, which was also attended by Executive Council Member and Chairman of the Referees Assessors and Classification Panel, Frederick Acheampong, Referees Manager Alex Kotey and Chairperson of the Referees Committee, Christine Enyonam Zigah.

Addressing the referees, President Simeon-Okraku emphasised the crucial role of match officials in sustaining the credibility of Ghana’s top competitions.

“Let me be clear and without any form of ambiguity,” he said. “I will not stand in the way of justice if any of you engage in unprofessional or unethical conduct. One of the key demands is integrity, and we will not compromise on anything that threatens the momentum, energy and gains made ahead of the new campaign,” President Simeon-Okraku said.

He encouraged referees to prepare thoroughly and deliver performances “to the satisfaction and admiration of all stakeholders,” adding that their cooperation is vital to achieving “the best Premier League season ever.”

He stressed that with improved financial conditions and welfare packages in place, referees are expected to be steadfast and beyond reproach, adding, “I am very expectant ahead of the best Premier League ever. With your full cooperation, we can deliver top-level performances free of needless controversies.”

Executive Council member Frederick Acheampong commended the Football Association’s commitment to referee welfare and urged officials to match these investments with uncompromising professionalism and discipline throughout the season.

The Football Association has introduced a comprehensive package to enhance referees’ welfare and working conditions across the Premier League (GPL), Access Bank Division One League (DoL) and the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League (WPL) for the 2025/26 season.

The 2025/26 Premier League officially kicks off on Friday, September 12, promising an exciting campaign built on integrity, professionalism, and renewed energy across all competitions.
