India had a brilliant day in the men’s singles category as all four shuttlers registered a win in their respective opening round fixtures at the 2025 Hong Kong Open on Wednesday.

The Indian ace Lakshya Sen defeated Wang Tzu Wei of Chinese Taipei 22-20, 16-21, 21-15, whereas HS Prannoy got the better of Lu Guangzu in straight games, 21-17, 21-14.

The two Indians will now take on each other in the round of 16 clash tomorrow, confirming at least one spot for India in the quarterfinals.

On the other hand, the youngsters, Kiran George and Ayush shetty, also booked their spots in the round of 16 with close wins against Singaporean and Chinese Taipei opponents,

However, PV Sindhu suffered a first-round exit at the Hong Kong Open 2025, losing a hard-fought contest to Denmark’s Line Christophersen. Sindhu took the opening game 21-15 but went down 16-21, 19-21 in just under an hour.

The second mixed doubles pair of Ruthvika Shivani Gadde and Rohan Kapoor also faced a first-round exit to the second-seeded Chinese pair of Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping.
