The leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) held a successful meeting with executives of all 48 Division One League (DOL) clubs on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, as part of preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

The engagement served as a platform to review the 2024/25 Access Bank Division One League season and to collaboratively chart a progressive path for the future of Ghana’s second-tier competition.

Led by General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, the session covered a broad range of operational and developmental issues. Attendees included President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku and Executive Council Members Gideon Fosu and Nana Sarfo Oduro, all of whom contributed to an interactive and productive dialogue.

The meeting focused on evaluating the successes and challenges of the 2024/25 season, while also discussing actionable solutions to enhance the league’s structure, competitiveness and appeal. Key agenda items included officiating standards, regulations and compliance, club licensing, infrastructure development, sponsorship acquisition and communication strategies.

President Simeon- Okraku praised the collective efforts of the Division One clubs in advancing the league, while emphasizing the importance of sustained collaboration.

“I want to use this strategic space to thank all of you. We’ve made big strides since we started this journey, and all of us can attest to the improvement in the Division One League,” said President Simeon-Okraku.

“We’ve achieved significant progress, including improvements in basic infrastructure and various forms of support. While the ecosystem is far from perfect, today’s engagement confirms that more needs to be done to reach the level we all aspire to.

“Your Football Association will continue to support your work. I believe this platform has given us the opportunity to listen to your concerns and contributions, which we take seriously. There is still much work ahead, but we remain committed to the process.”

The President further highlighted key governance enhancements introduced by the Football Association to bolster league administration. These include the rollout of new regulatory frameworks such as the Medical Regulation, Media and Marketing Regulation, Academy Regulations and Player Standard Contracts, all aimed at improving governance, accountability and professionalism across clubs.

“We have not only improved our existing regulations but also introduced new ones to make governance easier and more effective. Let’s continue developing our game together.” he concluded.

The 2025/26 Access Bank Division One League season is scheduled to kick off on the weekend of September 26, 2025, and will conclude on May 11, 2026.
