The 2025 edition of the Free License D Coaching Course for colts club coaches in the Eastern Region will kick off on Wednesday, July 10.

The one-week intensive training program will take place at the Koforidua Sports Stadium and run until Wednesday, July 17.

This marks the second consecutive year the Eastern Region is benefitting from this crucial capacity-building initiative, which is part of the GFA’s broader agenda to enhance grassroots football development across the country.

A total of 30 coaches from various colts clubs in the region are expected to participate in the course, maintaining the same number of beneficiaries as last year.

The Free License D Coaching Course is a key component of the GFA’s three-year plan to train 900 colts club coaches nationwide.

In 2024, all 16 regions received training sessions, with 30 coaches per region benefiting from the program. The initiative is aimed at improving the technical knowledge of youth coaches, thereby raising the standard of talent development in Ghanaian football.

Participants will undergo both theoretical and practical sessions led by certified GFA instructors, focusing on modern coaching techniques, player management, and football ethics. The training is fully funded by the GFA, reaffirming the Association’s commitment to investing in the foundation of football.

President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has consistently emphasized the need to build capacity at the grassroots level, citing the colts system as a vital part of the football development pyramid. The License D course serves as the first formal step in the coaching ladder for many grassroots trainers.
