The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of two esteemed former Presidents of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Mr. Ackah Anthony and Mr. Ebo Quansah.

Mr. Ackah Anthony, who passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025, served with distinction as the sixth President of SWAG from 2007 to 2015, leading the association with unwavering dedication and integrity.

Mr. Ebo Quansah, who served as the fifth President of SWAG, was until his passing a patron of the Association. A towering figure in Ghanaian journalism, Mr. Quansah’s voice, pen, and leadership helped shape the landscape of sports reporting in the country.

In paying tribute, GFA General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo, highlighted the valuable role both men played in supporting the GFA’s mission.

“The two distinguished men served the GFA in different capacities in its development agenda in the past, and we thank them exceedingly for their contributions to Ghana Football.”

These distinguished stalwarts of Ghanaian sports journalism dedicated their lives to the growth and integrity of the profession. They served SWAG with unwavering passion, commitment, and excellence, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire generations of sports journalists and administrators.

The Ghana Football Association extends its deepest condolences to the families of Mr. Anthony and Mr. Quansah, as well as to the entire SWAG fraternity.

We stand in solidarity with all who mourn their loss and honour their invaluable service to our nation’s sporting community.
