Arsenal have entered the race to sign Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku. The Gunners are now making serious bids for his signature. Interest in the 27-year-old has gathered pace. Nkunku arrived at Stamford Bridge in great expectation after thriving on a good run of form at RB Leipzig. Chelsea acquired him in 2023 on a deal worth up to £52 million. His west London stint has, however, been disappointing, with injuries and inconsistent form denying him the expected influence.

Both German clubs are keen to have Nkunku return to Germany, where he had earlier experienced great success. While at RB Leipzig, the striker managed to score 58 goals in two seasons. This made him one of the league’s most prolific attackers.
Bayern Munich see Nkunku as a match-winner addition who can play on the front line. The Bundesliga title winners want to add more creativity and pace around Harry Kane, and Nkunku’s proven league record is a good fit. Bayer Leverkusen are tracking the player, eager to fortify their outfit for another title push next season.

In spite of the intense German interest, Arsenal’s position in the hunt is still firm. His versatility of being able to play in various forward positions is seen as a huge asset, given that Arsenal will be competing on a few fronts next season.
