Player salaries in MLB have seemingly reset over the last decade. While Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani’s 10-year, $700 million contract set the benchmark for the biggest annual salary in North American sports, Juan Soto eclipsed the overall contract value by signing a $765 million contract over 15 years.
While Ohtani remains one of the highest-paid players in North American sports, his $680 million deferred contract sum has reduced his salary to $2 million a year for 10 years. However, the deal has brought great success for the Dodgers as Ohtani has helped them win consecutive World Series titles.
