Retired Ghanaian referee Thomas Nunoo is currently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, participating in the FIFA Regional Technical Instructors Course for CAF English-speaking countries. The highly anticipated program, which runs from March 17 to March 21, aims to enhance the knowledge and expertise of refereeing instructors across the continent.

The course will cover key aspects of modern refereeing, including tactical fouls, handball situations, and critical decision-making in the penalty area. It will also provide in-depth analysis of recent trends in officiating, ensuring that instructors are well-equipped to train and develop the next generation of elite referees.

Nunoo’s participation in the FIFA-organized program highlights Ghana’s commitment to improving refereeing standards. With his vast experience in officiating, his involvement in the course is expected to contribute significantly to the development of Ghanaian referees upon his return.

The FIFA Regional Technical Instructors Course plays a crucial role in aligning refereeing standards with modern football demands, ensuring uniformity in decision-making across Africa. As CAF continues to invest in referee education, the participation of seasoned officials like Thomas Nunoo will further strengthen officiating standards in Ghana and beyond.
