The Cincinnati Reds are entering an offseason with Elly De La Cruz in trade rumors, and Jim Bowden has a simple reason to listen: his agent. On the “D-Mac and Reiter” show this week, the former Reds general manager said Cincinnati will “absolutely” consider a deal.
The Reds already tried to extend him. In spring training of 2025 they offered a deal that team president Nick Krall said would have made De La Cruz the highest-paid player in franchise history, above Joey Votto’s 10-year, $225 million contract. He declined.
As a result, Bowden thinks a potential trade deal between the Reds and a big-market team like the LA Dodgers could be a possibility in the near future.
