India and West Indies will meet for the fourth T20I of their five-match series at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on October 14, 2026. India currently lead the series 2-1 after three matches, and the contest at Hyderabad presents an opportunity to strengthen their position with one more game to follow.
Dinesh Karthik has recommended a tactical adjustment to India’s bowling composition for the upcoming match. The former India wicketkeeper-batter emphasised the importance of maintaining a balanced attack in the conditions expected at Hyderabad, particularly given the flat pitch and large boundaries at the venue.
“Considering how flat that pitch is and the size of the ground, I would be tempted to bring in Kuldeep Yadav. I would try to bring him in place of one of the all-rounders, because I feel it is important to have five bowlers if you want to compete against any team in India, the way things are going,” Karthik said on Cricbuzz.
Why Karthik backs Kuldeep for Hyderabad
Kuldeep Yadav has been a key performer in the T20I series so far. The left-arm wrist-spinner has taken 7 wickets across 3 innings at an average of 23.85, demonstrating his effectiveness in the format. His inclusion would provide India with an additional specialist bowling option in the middle overs and at the death, addressing the balance Karthik believes is necessary for success on Indian pitches.
Karthik’s assessment of Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy
Shreyas Iyer is leading India in the T20I series, and Karthik also praised the captain’s tactical acumen and decision-making in recent matches. The former wicketkeeper-batter highlighted how Iyer has managed the bowling rotations effectively throughout the series, noting that the captain has handled the responsibility well.

“In terms of captaincy, I think he has handled it very well, to be fair. Even in the last game, there were not too many glaring errors out there that he needed to change. If I were Shreyas Iyer, I would be very happy with how I am rotating my bowlers. Even in this game, he did it perfectly. So, he has done a very good job,” Karthik said.
The fourth T20I will be crucial as India seek to maintain their series advantage. The venue at Hyderabad, with its flat pitch and large boundaries, will require careful consideration of the bowling attack. Karthik’s suggestion reflects the strategic thinking around squad composition for the specific conditions expected at the ground.
