Carlos Alcaraz recently called out the dangerous ATP schedule. Amidst friend and rival Jannik Sinner’s injury debacle, the Spaniard emphasised that the Tour was moving in the wrong direction, with players suffering under the rigors of the extensive tournament calendar.
The ATP tournament calendar currently runs for 11 months, with top players required to compete in quite a few compulsory tournaments. Amidst the rising strain of the Tour, several players have dealt with severe injury issues. The most recent victim had been reigning World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. The Italian picked up a knee injury sometime after his triumphant campaign at the Wimbledon Championships, and after missing the US Open in September, the 25-year-old has now announced an early end to his season.
