Nottinghamshire have confirmed Michael Temple as their permanent chief executive, with the announcement made on October 2, 2026. Temple had been fulfilling the duties on an interim basis and has now been confirmed in the role on a full-time footing at Trent Bridge.

The vacancy arose after Richard Kenyon left Nottinghamshire to take up the chief executive position at Lancashire. Kenyon had joined Nottinghamshire in December 2025 and departed after less than a year in post, having succeeded Lisa Pursehouse, who served 14 seasons as chief executive before stepping down.

“Michael has demonstrated total commitment to Nottinghamshire and has provided assured leadership as interim chief executive. He understands what this club means to its members and supporters, and combines that understanding with commercial and operational experience, mature judgement and significant ambition for our future,” Notts chairman, Andy Hunt, said as quoted by Cricinfo.

What is Michael Temple’s background at Nottinghamshire?

Temple brings 16 seasons of accumulated service at Trent Bridge to the permanent role, establishing him as one of the most experienced figures within the county’s administration. He rejoined Nottinghamshire as commercial director in 2018, having previously built his experience across different sporting organisations.

Before returning to Trent Bridge, Temple held the position of head of commercial at Glamorgan and also worked at London Stadium, giving him a broad grounding in commercial operations across county cricket and major venue management.

“The support I’ve received over the past few weeks and throughout my 16 seasons at Trent Bridge has been immense, and I’m incredibly proud to lead a group of people that care about this club as deeply as I do and are committed to shaping a prosperous future,” said Temple.

What priorities and events face Temple in his new role?

Temple steps into the permanent position at a demanding time for the county. A pavilion redevelopment is currently under way at Trent Bridge, and overseeing that project through to completion will be among his immediate responsibilities. Kenyon succeeded the long-serving Lisa Pursehouse in 2025 but had been in the role for less than a year before being appointed by Lancashire, the club he had supported since boyhood.

Beyond the construction work, Nottinghamshire are scheduled to host both the men’s Ashes and the women’s Ashes in 2027, placing Trent Bridge at the heart of two of cricket’s most prominent bilateral series in the same summer. Coordinating those fixtures alongside the ongoing redevelopment will define much of Temple’s early agenda in the role.
