Surrey have announced the signing of England all-rounder Freya Kemp on a two-year deal ahead of the 2027 season. Kemp, 21, arrives at Surrey after spending the past two seasons playing domestic cricket for Hampshire.
The right-handed batter and right-arm seamer has represented England 49 times across both formats, scoring 585 runs across 36 innings and taking 36 wickets. Surrey have not disclosed the exact duration of the contract beyond the multi-year descriptor.
“Surrey are a huge club and have an amazing squad. I am very grateful for my time at Hampshire, who have played a key role in my development to get where I am today,” Kemp said in a statement.

Kemp is a genuine two-format contributor whose international record reflects consistent output with bat and ball. Her 585 runs and 36 wickets across 49 England appearances underline her value in both disciplines.
Her performances at the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 were particularly notable. She struck at a rate of 157.89 while averaging 45 with the bat during that tournament. With the ball, she returned figures of 4-22 against Sri Lanka in the opening match, which stood as England’s best bowling return of the competition.
Kemp’s franchise experience adds further depth to her profile. She has featured for Welsh Fire and Southern Brave in The Hundred and represented the Perth Scorchers in the Women’s Big Bash League in Australia, giving her exposure to high-pressure franchise environments across multiple countries.
“The experience she has gained across international, franchise and domestic cricket, along with her character and work ethic, will be a huge asset to the club both on and off the pitch,” Emma Calvert, Surrey’s director of women’s cricket, said in an official statement.
