India are on a historic tour of Japan for playing the hosts in a one-off T20I encounter in Sano. This will be the first time that a full-member nation will play Japan and will also mark the first time that the Indian team has travelled to play on the Japanese soil. The match holds significance as the two countries have completed their 75 years of friendship and alliance on a geopolitical level.
The one-off T20I on this tour serves the Shreyas Iyer-led Indian squadron with an amazing opportunity to get themselves acclimatised to the conditions in Japan as they are also set to embark on their journey in the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 where they will be defending their gold medal from the previous edition.Â
