The Los Angeles Dodgers activated Edwin Diaz from the 15-day injured list ahead of their game against the San Francisco Giants on Friday. The pitcher suffered from neck inflammation on August 18 and had to take a back seat as the team vies for their three-peat in its October run.
This is Diaz’s second IL stint, with the first time getting sidelined due to loose bodies in his right elbow that needed surgery. Since the Dodgers signed the 32-year-old on December last year for $69M, he has struggled to be at 100%.
In his first seven appearances, he recorded seven earned runs in six innings with 10 strikeouts and five walks. After returning from the IL, he pitched to a 12.92 ERA with nine strikeouts, five walks, and three blown saves over nine games. With the Dodgers recently activating the veteran, the fans have voiced their frustration ahead of the postseason.
