Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed on September 18, 2026, that West Indies Women will visit Zimbabwe for a six-match white-ball assignment comprising three ODIs and three T20Is across late September and early October. The series is the first bilateral meeting between the two nations across any format.

The ODI leg, which forms part of the ICC Women’s Championship, will be staged at Harare Sports Club on September 24, 27, and 30, 2026, with each match starting at 9:30 local time. Once the ODI leg concludes, the T20I fixtures move to Takashinga Cricket Club on October 3, 5, and 7, 2026, with afternoon starts scheduled across all three games.

West Indies head into the assignment having swept Ireland 3-0 in their most recent series and currently occupy fifth place in the ICC Women’s Championship table, having secured four victories from nine outings in the ongoing cycle.

What do the ODIs mean for both sides in the Women’s Championship?

The three Harare ODIs carry direct points implications for both teams. Zimbabwe sit 10th in the Women’s Championship standings after losing all six of their matches in the current cycle, while West Indies are fifth with four wins from nine games. The points available in this series could help West Indies consolidate their position in the top half of the table.

Zimbabwe arrive at this assignment with minimal recovery time. They have been hosting South Africa in a five-match T20I series and were trailing 0-4 heading into the final game, scheduled for September 19 in Bulawayo. The West Indies tour opens just five days after that concluding fixture, leaving Zimbabwe with a tight turnaround between the two assignments.

“We are delighted to welcome West Indies Women to Harare for what promises to be an exciting series,” ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni said as quoted by Cricinfo.

What is the broader context for West Indies Women ahead of this tour?

This Zimbabwe assignment is the first international tour West Indies Women have undertaken since the conclusion of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League, which was claimed by Guyana Amazon Warriors. The WCPL gave several West Indies players competitive match practice before the squad departed for southern Africa.

Cricket West Indies had not announced the squad for the Zimbabwe tour as of September 19, 2026. The confirmed schedule provides both sides with a clear window, with the ODI leg ending on September 30 before the T20I leg opens at Takashinga Cricket Club on October 3.

“Regular exposure to high-quality international cricket is vital to the development of Zimbabwe women and playing a side of West Indies’ stature gives our players another opportunity to test their skills, learn and build the experience and confidence they need to become more competitive,” said Makoni.
