Former USMNT goalkeeper Kasey Keller has urged MLS to focus on promoting the league instead of relying on Lionel Messi. He believes they have done enough to capitalise on his move to Inter Miami, but now need to think beyond him.
Speaking to Heavy Sports, Keller said MLS has done well to grab fans’ attention following Messi’s arrival. He compared it to George Best at Manchester United and Thierry Henry at Arsenal, saying that the clubs managed to maintain their level even after the players left. He said:
