Bangladesh have secured a place in the last four of the Women’s Asian Games 2026 cricket competition after their quarter-final against China was called off without a ball bowled on Thursday, September 17. The match, which was the opening quarter-final of the tournament, was initially delayed by a wet outfield at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, before officials abandoned it entirely without the toss taking place.

Bangladesh progressed on the basis of their higher seeding. The women’s draw features eight teams competing in a straight knockout format, with no group stage preceding the quarter-finals. The four seeded sides in the competition are India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh’s superior seeding over China was sufficient to send them through to the semi-finals without facing a single delivery.

Their next assignment is a semi-final on September 20, where they will meet the winner of the India versus Japan quarter-final, which is scheduled for September 18 at the same venue. The Bangladeshi side carries no match fatigue from the quarter-final stage into that fixture, though the advantage of competitive match practice will belong to whichever side they face.

What does the Women’s Asian Games 2026 quarter-final schedule look like?

The quarter-final programme is split across two days at Korogi Sports Park. On September 17, 2026, two matches were scheduled: the Bangladesh versus China fixture that was washed out, and the Pakistan versus Thailand contest. The remaining two quarter-finals, Malaysia versus Sri Lanka and India versus Japan, are set for September 18.

Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin, Aichi Prefecture, is the sole venue for the entire women’s cricket competition, hosting every match from the quarter-final stage through to the final. The men’s cricket tournament at the Asian Games 2026 is scheduled to get under way separately on September 24.

With the quarter-final bracket now taking shape, at least one of the four seeded teams — India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka — will exit at the quarter-final stage before the semi-finals are contested. Bangladesh’s walkover means the remaining three seeded sides must still earn their passage through on the field.

When are the Women’s Asian Games 2026 semi-finals and final?

The two semi-finals are pencilled in for September 20 at Korogi Sports Park. Bangladesh, who have already confirmed their spot in the last four, will face the winner of the India versus Japan quarter-final in one of those ties. The other semi-final will be contested between the winners of the Pakistan versus Thailand and Malaysia versus Sri Lanka matches.

The Women’s Asian Games 2026 cricket final is scheduled for September 22, 2026, also at Korogi Sports Park. The entire women’s cricket competition is therefore contained within a six-day window from September 17 to September 22, with all fixtures played at a single venue in Nisshin, Aichi Prefecture.
