Ravichandran Ashwin, born on September 17, 1986, stepped away from international cricket in December 2024 and announced his retirement from the IPL in August 2025. His final franchise contract came when Chennai Super Kings secured him for ₹9.75 crore at the 2025 IPL auction. With both playing careers now concluded, his income has moved away from match fees and auction contracts toward commentary, digital content and brand partnerships.
Over his international career, Ashwin claimed 765 wickets across 287 matches. He sits behind only Anil Kumble in India’s all-time Test wicket-takers list and belongs to a group of just three players in history who have combined 500 or more Test wickets with 3,000 or more Test runs. He also struck six Test centuries, a tally that underlined his value as a genuine all-rounder.
What has contributed to Ashwin’s estimated net worth?
Reports typically build their estimates by aggregating IPL earnings, central contract income, brand endorsement fees and media revenue accumulated across more than a decade at the highest level. The ₹9.75 crore Chennai Super Kings fee from the 2025 auction was among the more visible figures in his final playing years and forms a significant component of those calculations.
His on-field achievements added sustained commercial appeal throughout that period. Ashwin hit the winning runs for India against Pakistan at the MCG during the 2022 T20 World Cup, a high-visibility moment that broadened his public profile considerably. His six Test centuries reinforced the all-rounder identity that made him attractive to endorsement partners beyond a purely bowling-focused audience.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s net worth at ₹130–132 crore, equivalent to roughly US$16 million, as of 2025–2026. No official figure has been disclosed by Ashwin or his representatives, and every number in circulation remains an unaudited estimate.
It is worth noting that the range of estimates across different trackers is wide, spanning ₹60 crore to ₹138 crore. The ₹130–132 crore figure aligns with the majority of recent assessments but has not been verified by any audited or official source.
How has Ashwin’s income profile changed since retirement?
Following both retirements, Ashwin has established himself as a prominent analyst and broadcaster. He joined the IPL 2026 commentary panel and has built a substantial presence on YouTube, where he has discussed his craft and the mechanics of his deliveries in detail. These broadcast and digital activities now represent the primary engine of his income rather than playing contracts.
Brand endorsements continue to feature in his earnings profile, though the precise breakdown of what commentary, YouTube and sponsorship each contribute has not been publicly quantified. Trackers acknowledge this gap, and the post-retirement income composition remains one of the unresolved elements in any net worth estimate.
Away from cricket, Ashwin was born and raised in Chennai. He and Prithi Narayanan, who had been friends since childhood, wed in the city in November 2011, and together they have two daughters. His long association with Chennai Super Kings has kept him closely connected to the city throughout his career and into retirement.
