Aneurin Donald is set to make his T20I debut for England against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, with white-ball coach Brendon McCullum confirming the selection ahead of the series opener.
Donald comes into the XI in place of Phil Salt, who is sidelined with a minor quadriceps injury. Salt is one of three players unavailable through fitness concerns, with Jacob Bethell ruled out due to a knee problem and Sam Curran absent with a groin issue. His career path has taken him through several counties. Donald departed Glamorgan at the age of 21, subsequently moved to Hampshire, and then signed for Derbyshire in 2023. Derbyshire have not had an academy product named in an England squad since James Harris was chosen for a T20I series against New Zealand in 2013.
