Former Republic of Ireland striker Tony Cascarino reckons Arsenal could break Chelsea’s longstanding record of the fewest goals conceded in a Premier League season (15). He said so after the Gunners saw off Sunderland 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday (September 12).
A goalless first half at the Stadium of Light was followed by Gunners custodian David Raya keeping out Enzo Le Fee’s penalty before substitute Bruno Guimaraes opened the scoring two minutes later. Bukayo Saka converted a stoppage-time penalty after being fouled by Reinildo Mandava, who was sent off, to seal the win.
