The Los Angeles Dodgers decided to place four-time MVP Shohei Ohtani on the injured list due to his lingering knee and arm issues. The Dodgers are calling up their top prospect, Josue De Paula as a potential replacement.
De Paula, the No. 6-ranked MLB prospect, is expected to be activated ahead of the Dodgers’ series against the Miami Marlins on Friday. He could get a run at being the designated hitter while Ohtani is on the 15-day injured list.
The 21-year-old slugger was born in Brooklyn but played much of his baseball in the Dominican Republic as he moved to the country during high school. He was signed by the Dodgers while he was with El Niche Academy in January 2022.
