Black Satellites midfielder Mohammed Zaidan was once again named Man of the Match after another commanding display in Ghana’s 0-0 draw with Togo in their final Group B fixture at the 2026 WAFU B U-20 Championship in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

The industrious midfielder produced another outstanding performance at the heart of Ghana’s midfield, dictating the tempo with his composure, work rate and intelligent distribution to earn the accolade for the second consecutive match.

Zaidan had also been voted Man of the Match in Ghana’s previous outing against Burkina Faso, where the Black Satellites battled courageously to a 1-1 draw despite playing much of the contest with ten men.

Although the Black Satellites were unable to progress beyond the group stage, the competition showcased several encouraging performances from the young Ghanaian side. The team displayed resilience, determination and attacking quality while gaining invaluable experience against some of West Africa’s finest emerging talents.

The tournament also provided head coach Maxwell Konadu with an important opportunity to evaluate his squad in a competitive environment, test different tactical approaches and give a number of players valuable international exposure as preparations continue for future assignments.

With Ghana already assured of qualification for the 2027 TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations as tournament hosts, the WAFU B U-20 Championship has served as an important phase in the Black Satellites’ development.

The experience gained in Côte d’Ivoire will help strengthen team cohesion and provide a solid foundation as the technical team continues to build a competitive squad capable of challenging for continental honours on home soil next year.
