The Black Queens have received a GH₵20,000 locker room bonus from betPawa following their impressive 2-0 victory over Cape Verde in their opening match of the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The reward forms part of betPawa’s commitment to incentivising and celebrating the team’s performances at the tournament. The bonus was presented after the Black Queens secured all three points in their Group C opener.

Ghana made a winning start to the competition courtesy of a first-half strike from Doris Boaduwaa before a Cape Verde own goal sealed the victory, earning the team not only a crucial win but also the first locker room bonus of the campaign.

The initiative is designed to motivate the players by rewarding victories throughout the tournament, reflecting betPawa’s continued support for women’s football and the Black Queens.

The locker room bonus is part of betPawa’s innovative player incentive programme, which rewards footballers directly for winning matches. The programme reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the growth of African football and improving player welfare by ensuring athletes benefit immediately from their on-field success.

The Black Queens will now shift focus to their next Group C fixture against Cameroon.
