Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey says the team is ready to fight ahead of Tuesday’s FIFA World Cup Group L clash with England, insisting the Black Stars are mentally and physically prepared to compete after a strong week of training.

Speaking ahead of the England match at Boston Stadium, Partey struck a confident tone about the squad’s condition following the 1-0 opening win over Panama.

“I am okay, I am feeling good. We have been training good, everybody is ready,” Partey said.

“I think we are here to do our best and to compete with the rest of the teams and I think the team is ready to fight.”

Addressing fitness and the unpredictable nature of tournament football, the midfielder was clear that his focus is on controllables. “Well, I think it’s part of football, things happen in football that you cannot control. So, for me, now I feel okay and I’m ready to play,” he said.

Partey emphasized the group’s work rate and mindset going into a pivotal game with England, with both sides on three points in Group L.

“We are all doing well to keep ourselves in good shape by training hard. I think everything is mental. You have to be ready for whatever,” he added. “The minute that your body can go through, you just give your best, and that’s it.”

Ghana face England at Boston Stadium in Foxborough on Tuesday, June 23, with kickoff set for 4:00 PM ET. The winner will take sole control of Group L.
