World Cup Squad Interaction: Ghana’s national football team connects with local youth during a public practice at Bryant University ahead of the tournament’s start.

The Ghanaian national team kicked off their tournament journey at their Rhode Island base camp by spending quality time with local children at Bryant University, utilizing the Be Active campaign platform.

The youth in attendance received an exclusive look at Carlos Queiroz’s roster fine-tuning their strategy before they head to Toronto to face Panama in their Group L opener on Wednesday, June 17.

Several of the squad’s standout stars, including goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi, captain Jordan Ayew, vice-captain Thomas Partey, youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and forward Antoine Semenyo, took time out of their training schedule to run football drills with children aged 10-14 from local clubs. After the sessions, the players stayed on the pitch to sign autographs and pose for selfies, creating a buzz of excitement among the young aspiring athletes.

First introduced alongside the World Health Organization (WHO) during the 2022 tournament, the joint program responds to data showing that 80% of children worldwide are lacking sufficient daily exercise.

The campaign urges adolescents to commit to a minimum of 60 minutes of daily physical exertion – particularly through sport – fostering better health, well-being, and vitality among the younger generation globally.

To further support youth fitness, an online companion routine has been released under the Be Active banner. Set to the rhythm of “GOALS”—a song featured on the tournament’s official soundtrack by LISA, Anitta, and Rema—the digital workout invites viewers to follow along and master the choreography to fulfill their hour of daily movement.
