The curtain came down on the 2026 GFA Elite U15 Boys Championship on Wednesday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, bringing to a close another successful edition of the competition under FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme (TDS).

The championship, which brought together some of the most promising young football talents from across Ghana’s regions and elite academies, provided a valuable platform for talent identification, player development and technical assessment over six days of competitive football.

The closing ceremony attracted several distinguished personalities from the football fraternity, including former Black Stars players Jacob Nettey, Godwin Attram, Hamza Mohammed, Abukari Damba and Laryea Kingston, who currently serves as head coach of Uganda’s junior national teams.

Also present were CAF License A Coaching Course Lead Instructor and former Netherlands women’s national team player Hesterine, as well as the Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association, Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah, who joined other stakeholders to witness the successful conclusion of the championship.

As part of the closing activities, certificates of participation were presented to all the regional teams and elite academies in recognition of their involvement and contribution to the success of the tournament. The young referees who officiated the matches under the GFA’s Catch Them Young Refereeing Programme were also honoured with certificates for their dedication and performance throughout the competition.

The championship once again demonstrated the Ghana Football Association’s commitment to grassroots football development and talent identification, with numerous players showcasing exceptional potential that could earn them opportunities with future national youth teams.

With another successful edition completed, the Elite U15 Boys Championship continues to establish itself as one of the most important youth development competitions in Ghana, helping to unearth and nurture the next generation of football talent for the country.
