The Football Association (GFA), led by President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has donated 50 hampers to widows at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Kpehe, near Accra Newtown, as part of its commitment to supporting vulnerable groups and strengthening community bonds through compassion and faith.

Addressing the gathering, President Simeon-Okraku, who also serves as 2nd CAF Vice-President, called on Ghanaians – especially mothers- to continue praying for the success of the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“As people who do football, we ask you, our mothers, to pray for us so all will go well with us and with the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup,” he said.

The beneficiaries, widows from St. Anthony Catholic Church in New Achimota and St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Kpehe, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the GFA President and his delegation for the thoughtful gesture. Beyond gratitude for the donation, they offered prayers for Ghana, the GFA, and the Black Stars, expressing optimism for a successful Mundial campaign.

Speaking on behalf of the widows, Madam Elizabeth Sekyiwaa shared confidence in the Black Stars’ prospects, expressing hope that this tournament would bring greater success than previous editions.

Welcoming the delegation, Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Francis Bawuah commended the GFA President for the initiative and offered prayers for the Football Association and the national team.

President Simeon-Okraku personally presented all 50 hampers to the widows. Each hamper contained African wax print fabric, rice, mackerel, cooking oil, and tomato puree. The visit concluded with moments of fellowship, songs of praise, and photographs shared with the widows.

The GFA delegation included Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association and Black Stars Management Committee member, Samuel Aboabre, Western Regional Football Association Chairman, Simon Ehomah, Michael Osekre, Chief of Staff and Malcolm Frazier, Director of the GFA Foundation.

Representing the Church were Madam Mary Ampah, Chairperson of the Parish Pastoral Council of St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, and Mrs. Jemima Attah Tengan, Secretary of the Church.
