Medeama SC sealed the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title in emphatic fashion after thrashing Heart of Lions 5-2 in a thrilling match at a packed Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium on Sunday.

Backed by a jubilant home crowd, the Mauve and Yellow produced a five-star performance to clinch their second league title with a game to spare, capping an impressive campaign in style.

Braces from Kelvin Obeng and Derrick Fordjour powered Medeama to victory, with Prince Owusu adding the fifth goal to ignite celebrations in Tarkwa.

The triumph moves Medeama five points clear at the summit and returns the Premier League trophy to Tarkwa for the first time in three years.

It also extends the Western Region’s dominance of Ghana football, with league titles remaining in the region for a fourth consecutive season following successes by Medeama (2022/23), FC Samartex 1996 (2023/24), Bibiani Gold Stars FC (2024/25), and now Medeama once again.

Medeama profited from Dreams FC’s entertaining 3-1 victory at the Tuba Astro Turf.

A brace from Suraj Seidu and a strike by Jonathan Nemorden secured the win for Dreams, while Gold Stars finished the match with nine men following dismissals to Richard Kotey, Kelvin Oppong, and Bright Boakye. The defeat ultimately ended the champions’ hopes of retaining the title.

Aduana FC boosted their top-four ambitions with an impressive 3-1 win over Young Apostles FC.

Patrick Mensah netted twice, while veteran forward Bright Agyei came off the bench to win a penalty and add a third as the Fire Boys strengthened their push for a strong finish to the season.

FC Samartex 1996 reignited their top-four hopes with a narrow 1-0 victory over Hearts of Oak SC at Samreboi, courtesy of Gabriel Osei’s decisive second-half strike.

Bechem United FC secured their Premier League survival in emphatic style after defeating Asante Kotoko SC 3-1 at Nana Gyeabour Park. Former Kotoko star Augustine Okrah starred with a brilliant brace to ensure the Hunters remain in the top flight.

Karela United FC left it late to edge Swedru All Blacks FC thanks to a dramatic stoppage-time winner from Zaidan Mohammed in Tamale,  keeping their momentum alive heading into the final day while piling pressure on the visitors in the relegation battle.

The survival fight intensified further as Vision FC claimed a crucial 1-0 victory over Nations FC through Faruk Mohammed’s decisive strike against his former side. Goalkeeper Godwin Ametefe emerged as the hero, notably saving a stoppage-time penalty to leave Nations FC staring at possible relegation.

Berekum Chelsea FC continued their strong finish to the season with a comfortable 2-0 victory over already relegated Eleven Wonders FC. Goals from Abubakari Seidu and Marvin Owusu ensured Chelsea climbed into mid-table heading into the final round of fixtures.

With the title now decided, attention shifts to an intriguing final day where battles for top-four places and survival remain fiercely contested.
