Punjab Kings (PBKS) will host Delhi Capitals (DC) in the match 55 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamshala on May 11, in a crucial encounter.

Despite a strong start at the IPL 2026, the PBKS side are struggling currently with losing three of their last three matches. With the tournament entering a decisive last phase, where every win increases the chances of qualifying for the playoffs. With 13 points already to their name, PBKS also have a strong chance of finishing in the top-2, which will give them two opportunities to reach the final.

With three consecutive losses, the Shreyas Iyer-led team will need to win the match against DC to have a strong chance of qualifying for the playoffs. If they win the contest against DC, their chances of qualifying will increase to a staggering 91%, with DC going out of the competition officially.

The Shreyas Iyer’s side are currently placed fourth in the points table, with six wins and three losses to their name. Their game against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, was washed out due to rain. They were the table leaders for the most part of the IPL 2026, but due to a recent slump, PBKS have slipped to a fourth place in the points table.

Delhi Capitals on the other hand, despite a strong start, are on the verge of elimination, with this game against PBKS being a must win encounter for them. The Axar Patel-led side has managed to win just four matches in 11 games so far, and are sitting at the eighth position in the points table. This will be the first match in IPL 2026 that will be played at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamshala.

If PBKS faces yet another loss, it might dent their qualification chances severely, with that percentage dropping to 63%. So, this encounter in many ways, has become a crucial one for the Punjab-based franchise.
