The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to face the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, May 5. Sanjay Bangar opined that the CSK could make a slight tweak in their bowling lineup, which could benefit them in the power play overs against DC’s openers.

In CSK’s eight-wicket win in the last game against the Mumbai Indians, the Men in Yellow dropped Akeal Hosein from the side and played uncapped left-arm-spin-bowling all-rounder Prashant Veer. However, Bangar suggested that they could bring Hosein back in the lineup and have him bowl to the Delhi Capitals’ right-handed batters KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka inside the power play.

“Whenever he plays, it just seems that the CSK’s bowling mix is about right. Anshul [Kamboj] and Akeal can bowl two overs each, and then they can manage the remaining two overs between Mukesh [Choudhury] and some other option. [Jamie] Overton is now being considered a middle over specialist. So that takes care of the middle overs with Noor [Ahmad],” the former India all-rounder said on ESPNcricinfo Timeout.

“I would want to see Akeal in the mix against DC because they have KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka at the top, potentially to open the innings,” Bangar added.

“I like how he’s redesigned himself” – Veda Krishnamurthy on CSK pacer

Anshul Kamboj has been one of the standout bowlers in IPL 2026. He has picked up 17 wickets in nine matches at an average of 15.82. The right-arm seamer has been exemplary in the death overs. Former India batter Veda Krishnamurthy lauded the 25-year-old for working hard behind the scenes and honing his death-bowling skills in T20 cricket.

“There was a lot of talk around Anshul Kamboj a couple of years ago when he picked up 8 or 10 wickets for Haryana. I might be wrong with the numbers, but I know that he picked up a lot of wickets in Ranji Trophy when he got picked for CSK. I like how he’s redesigned himself as a white-ball specialist, especially in T20 cricket. He’s not express pace. So, the angles are very important. Coming around the stumps when it requires with the new ball, the lengths that he’s hitting is very impressive,” Veda said.
