In a bizarre turn of events, the on-field umpires allowed Kartik Tyagi to continue bowling the all-important twentieth over during the LSG vs KKR clash despite the bowler delivering a couple of waist-high no-balls. The usual rule says that a bowler should be removed from the attack, and any other player from the team has to finish the rest of the over. However, Tyagi continued to bowl, as KKR were defending 17 off 6.

The batter in question was Himmat Singh, who copped a ball delivered around his chest area, and the following ball got him a free hit in the last-over thriller. The free-hit ball was also delivered above the waist of Himmat. The KKR teammates had gathered in a huddle, with Anukul Roy being mutually picked to finish the over. However, just as Anukul was setting his field, Tyagi appeared to mark his run-up once again.

Why was Kartik Tyagi allowed to bowl?

While the rule book does say that a bowler is prohibited from bowling two waist-high no-balls, the reason Tyagi could bowl was because the second no-ball was not deemed as dangerous by the umpires. The commentators on air confirmed the same, also adding that the second one was not delivered intentionally.
