President of the Football Association and CAF 2nd Vice-President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, officially opened the CAF Medical Commission meeting in Lomé, Togo, reinforcing the growing emphasis on health, professionalism and structural development in African football.

Representing CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, the GFA President used the occasion to call for stronger medical standards, enhanced collaboration and revealed continuous capacity building across member associations.

He stressed the importance of prioritising player welfare and modern medical practices as key pillars for the sustainable growth of the game on the continent.

His presence in Lomé follows a series of regional engagements, including a recent visit to Côte d’Ivoire, where he participated in a FIFA consultative meeting focused on shaping the next phase of the global football governing body’s flagship development initiative, the FIFA 4.0 Forward Programme.

President Simeon-Okraku’s trip to Lome, Togo also coincided with the CAF Zone West-B Team Managers Training Seminar.

The CAF Medical Commission meeting brought together a distinguished assembly of football stakeholders and  health experts from across Africa, including Ghana’s Prince Pambo.

Among the notable attendees were Guy Kossi Akpovy, President of the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) and Philippe Tchere, Executive Director of WAFU Zone B.
